Social Media Director

About the Role

THE AGE OF YOU is a new multi-channel platform built around women’s beauty, health, and wellness. It spans editorial content, social media, live events, expert panels, brand collaborations, a podcast, and a newsprint publication. We’re looking for a social media director to lead the platform’s community and growth from launch.

This is a hands-on social leadership role for someone who thinks like an editor and executes like a growth marketer. You’ll set the social and content strategy, generate the ideas, shape the copy, and make sure everything we publish sounds like it belongs at the center of the culturally relevant AGE OF YOU beauty, health and wellness conversation, not on the sidelines of it.

 

What You’ll Own

• Build and lead the social media strategy across Instagram, Linkedin, possibly TikTok, and other key platforms, from launch and beyond
• Collaborate closely with founder, writers and editorial freelance team to produce content that connects the platform’s social presence, publication, podcast, and live events into one coherent voice for this initiative
• Generate content ideas at a fast clip: series, formats, franchises, and collaborations
• Write, edit, and shape copy across captions, scripts, and editorial pieces
• Turn live events and expert panels into social-first content, in real time and after the fact
• Build and manage a content calendar across every channel
• Track performance and use the data to decide what gets made next
• Generate assets, use brand-right templates and brand book to guide look and feel of the feeds
• Partner with creative team and strategy team to align on social plans, visuals and ideas
• Stay ahead of platform algorithm changes and adjust strategy accordingly
• Identify and help shape brand collaboration opportunities that fit the platform’s point of view
• Work closely with the founder and core team to align social strategy with the broader marketing and business goals
• Manage freelance contributors as the platform scales in future

 

What You Bring

• 8+ years of experience in social media strategy / editorial content concepting
• Deep experience in women’s fashion, beauty, wellness, and/or health contentExcitement around elevated, chic style driven content and events
• Current, working knowledge of social media algorithms and how to build for them
• A results and growth mindset. You know how to grow an audience, not just post to one
• A clear understanding of how social fits into a full marketing ecosystem, not just its own lane
• Confident writing and idea generation. You can pitch a concept, write the caption, and edit the copy
• You are hands-on as this is a start-up that will require a dive in and do-it mentality
• An elevated eye for women’s fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content and aesthetics
• A track record you can point to: audience growth, campaigns, launches, or platforms you’ve built or scaled
• Comfort working independently and moving fast in a startup, launch-stage environment

 

Ideal Background

These aren’t hard requirements, but they describe the kind of experience that tends to translate well here:

• Experience at a premium beauty, wellness, or women-focused media brand or platform
• A hand in building or scaling a brand’s social presence from an early stage
• Familiarity with content ecosystems that combine editorial, social, events, and audio or video
• Experience working directly with a founder or a small leadership team

 

Engagement Details

• Type: Freelance / contract, ongoing
• Location: Los Angeles or New York preferred; open to remote for the right candidate
• Time Commitment: hours/week or retainer structure TBD
• Compensation: Commensurate with experience
